iPhone 6s users can opt for battery replacement
Following the repair program exclusively for iPhone 6Plus users, Apple launched another repair program where iPhone 6s users can opt for battery replacement. However, the Cupertino-based tech giant stated that the issue only affects certain devices and not all iPhone 6s users. The company ascertains that affected iPhone 6s are eligible for ‘free of charge’ replacement.
iPhone 6s was unveiled in September 2015 with a price tag starting from Rs. 41,490. The device came with a 4.70-inch touchscreen display. It offered 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage capacity. It bears a 12-megapixel front camera and a 5-megapixel front shooter. iPhone 6s runs on iOS 9, and it packs a 1715mAh non-removal battery.
Apple on its repair program page labelled ‘iPhone 6s program for unexpected shutdown issues’ announces that the company has discovered that a couple of iPhone 6s handsets may unexpectedly shut down. Plus it is not a safety issue and only affected handset in a limited serial number range that were produced between September and October 2015.
It looks like the repair program is the company acknowledgement to China’s Consumers Association which apparently called Apple to investigate several reports by the users that claimed their iPhone 6s unexpectedly shut down and wasn’t turning back on.
Apple says if the users experience such unexpected shutdown, they can visit Apple Retail Store or any Apple Authorised Service Provider to get the handset checked. However, the company stressed that before any iPhone 6s service Apply would verify whether the device is eligible for the repair program and in working order.
The company’s note says that if the users experienced the shutdown issue, they are requested to visit Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorised Store and have their model’s serial number verified for the eligibility of this battery replacement program free of charge.
Also, Apple confirmed, those users who paid to get this issue fixed are eligible for the refund. It further added that this worldwide Apple program does not expand the standard warranty coverage of the iPhone 6s.
