Motorola Moto G5 and G5 Plus
Motorola announced the launch of its new phones, Motorola Moto G5 and Moto G5 plus in the Moto G series in Barcelona in February 2017.Both the phones offer you some of the best features of their flagship phones without the cost. There is not much of a difference between both the phones. The phones will be available on Amazon exclusively.
Motorola, now a Lenovo owned company made it very clear at the MWC 2017 Trade Show Launch, that launching of Motorola G5 Plus and G5 in India is of high priority for them.
Design:
The design of Moto G series have evolved over the time. The first Moto G in 2014 was loved and appreciated by all. Motorola was the first company to offer you high end features in a phone at an affordable cost. The body of the Moto G was plastic and polycarbonate body, which wasn’t as exciting as other smart phones available in the market. The Moto G (Generation 2) and Moto G (Generation 3) had also brought few changes but were based on the same lines of original Moto G. Moto G4 series saw drastic changes in it with the finger print scanner, being the show stopper, but that too was limited to the higher end model and the plastic body was continued.
With the unveiling of Motorola G5 plus and G5, the company has made it very clear that they believe in a change and will cater to the expectations of their consumers. Both the models have been given a metal body, and support an aluminum finish which makes them look slinky. Both phones also have got a new front-mouthed fingerprint scanner, making it easy for the consumer to use it with one hand.
The dimensions of Moto G5 are 144.30×73.00×9.50mm and Moto G5 Plus is 150.2× 74×7.7 mm.
Battery:
Moto G5 Plus has a 3000 mAh battery life, which according to the company can deliver up to 24 hours of mixed usage. The phone supports VoLTE (voice over LTE). The TurboPower charging feature is absolutely brilliant and as claimed by the company, with just 15 minutes of charging you can get 60% power.
On the other hand Moto G5 has 2800 mAh battery life, with a removable battery. The weight of Moto G5 plus is 155g and Moto G5 is 145g.
Camera:
The Moto G5 Plus and G5 have 12 Megapixel and 13 Megapixel rear cameras respectively. Though, the megapixels are slightly less in the Moto G5 plus but has a higher aperture, which gives it an advantage in both high speed and low light photography. Both, Moto G5 and G5 plus have a 5 megapixel front camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Motorola G5, comes with a 5.00-inch touch screen display, whereas, Moto G5 Plus comes with a 5.02 inch touch screen display.
Processor:
Moto G5 Plus Octa- Core 2GHz processor whereas, Moto G5 uses Snapdragon 430. The consumers, can choose between a 16GB and 32GB internal storage option available in the Moto G5 Plus, whereas, 16GB and 32GB variants are available in Moto G5.The storage can be expanded upto 256GB, with the help of MicroSD Card slot available.
Price:
Motorola has always been a budget phone offering you great features. It has maintained its image with the 5th generation too. Moto G5 Plus starts from the price range of 14,999 for 3GB Ram/16GB and 16,999 for 4GB Ram/32GB.
The G5 model starts from the price range of 11,999 for 3GB Ram/ 16GB. There is one more model available having the internal storage of 32GB.
My Review:
The Moto G5 aims to compete in a more competitive price-bracket of under 12000 while the plus variant takes on the mid –range of 15000 segment. However, both the phones offer you nearly the same features. So, if you have a tight budget you can opt for the Moto G5 model with exciting offers being also offered by various websites. Both the phones come with water- repellent coating, which may not make them entirely water proof but should offer some protection against spills and rain drops. The phones also have the latest version of Android (Nougat), which is an icing on the cake. You should really check out both the models of the phone, before making any choices.
