Mid-range smartphones with high-quality features have recently crept up in the market and is gradually emerging as the most powerful range of smartphones preferred by a vast majority of smartphone buyers as they cover almost all of the high-end specifications within budget. One Plus 2 and Yu Yutopia both are also budget segment smartphones priced at the same amount of 24,999 INR. One Plus 2 is a recent launch of One Plus brand and Yu Yutopia is a product of Micromax’s sub-brand Yu-Televentures. One Plus 2 falls under the flagship category of smartphones of One Plus, so it can be ascertained that this phone is going to have top-end specifications.
Both the phones are priced at the same amount and have lots of features that fall common, yet there are some specific features that are unique to each other. The things that are common in both of these smartphones are the processor and the fingerprint scanner. Both the phones have Snapdragon 810 with Adreno 430GPU but the storage capability, the camera sensors, the screen size and many other factors seem to be different.
OnePlus Two VS Yu Yutopia Review
So let us compile a list of features and specs to see what is different between Yu Yutopia and One Plus 2.
Design and Look: Yu Yutopia is a model of what a perfect smartphone should be like while being affordable to the masses. Certainly this phone has got eye-catching looks and excellent ergonomics. The aluminum and magnesium chassis is the highlight of superb appearance. This phone has got a satin texture that is slippery though but gives a beautiful look. This phone is a bit heavier but is comfortable and handy to hold.
One Plus’s One Plus 2 is pretty similar to its predecessor One. So, if you loved the look of one, then you will probably fit well with its design terms. The phone has added some more features too- the main highlight being its Sandstone Black finish on its rear. The One Plus 2 also features a metal frame with a distinct removable back cover. The most lovable look of this phone is its speaker grille at the bottom similar to the new Samsung flagship launches and Apple.
Touch and Display: Yu Yutopia comes with a front dominated by its 5.2inched IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a high resolution of 1440×2560 pixels with a pixel density of 565 PPI. The screen gets a protection of Corning Concore Glass with Cyanogen OS 12.1. Color reproduction and viewing angles are exquisite, and the display is quite vibrant even in a sunlight view.
One Plus 2 also has splendid display features starting with its 5.5 inches full HD-display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and a pixel density of 401ppi. So, if you want a bigger screen then you can go for this phone, but it has a lesser resolution than that of Yu Yutopia. It comes with a protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layered with Oxygen 2.2.1 UI. One Plus 2 has better viewing angles and a bright display with colors that have natural almost washed out look.
Software and Hardware: Yu Yutopia and One Plus 2 both run on the same processor Snapdragon 810 with Adreno 430 GPU whereas the Android run on these two phones are also same but are layered with different UIs. Both the phones run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but the Android is layered with Cyanogen OS 12.1 in Yu YUtopia whereas it is layered with Oxygen OS in One Plus 2. The storage capacity also seems to be different- The RAM size is more in Yu Yutopia, which is 4GB as compared to 3GB in One Plus 2. The inbuilt storage is also distinct in both the phones- Yu Yutopia offers a storage size of 32GB and an expandable memory slot of 128GB whereas One Plus 2 has two varieties of inbuilt one is of 16GB, and the other is of 64GB, but it lacks the expansion. Concerning connectivity both the smartphones support almost the same features.
Camera: Now moving on to its camera, Yu Yutopia seems to bag more counts as compared to One Plus 2. Yu Yutopia has a 21megapixel rear camera and One Plus 2 has a rear camera sensor of 13megapixels and a front facing camera of 5-megapixels, which is still lesser than 8megapixel in Yu Yutopia.
Though the megapixel count in Yu Yutopia is better, it is not sufficient for a better picture quality. It does manage to provide detailed close-ups, but it is only possible in ample natural light. The camera doesn’t function up to the mark in low-light conditions. The camera’s capturing speed isn’t the quickest either, though it can be managed by ‘Zero Shutter lag’. It supports 4K video recording, and the selfie snapper seems to do good.
The rear camera of One Plus 2 captures excellent details in well-lit conditions and the picture quality is magnificent. The low-light performance is pretty good as well which most of the reviewers are comparing with that of iPhone 6 but in real it is not comparable, though, but it is better than that of Yu Yutopia. The front camera is more than enough for its intended use. Even 4K video recording is possible and is limited to 10minutes per clip.
Battery Life: The battery life is also a bit different in these phones. The Yu Yutopia comes with a 3000mAh battery life which is quite good and also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 whereas One Plus 2 has a life of 3300mAh which seems to be better but compensates for not having the quick charge facility.
Suggestions: Both the phones are good in their terms, and it totally boils down to one’s taste and preferences if given to compare. The Yu Yutopia has a smaller screen size as compared to One Plus 2 but has a better resolution that can be counted for. If the customer goes by the Android preference, then it’s completely his choice as both have almost the same efficiency but Yu Yutopia’s Cyanogen provides a better customization if compared. Even in the storage part, it totally depends on one’s choice of either or not keeping an expandable slot. The camera though appears to have a better sensor in Yu Yutopia but One Plus 2 seems to perform better. But in Yu Yutopia, one can have the fast charging facility which one might miss in One Plus 2. So, people for a price tag of 24,999 INR both of these smartphones are the best in the market, and it is entirely your choice what you prefer.
