OnePlus will roll out a Nougat update for OnePlus 3 this month
In September OnePlus announced that it is currently working on Oxygen OS upgrade based on Android Nougat 7.0. At that time, Brian Yoon, the head of ROM didn’t confirm any timeline; however, he has now officially announced on Engadget that OnePlus will roll out a Nougat update for OnePlus 3 this month. He added that as soon as the build is established it will launch an OTA update by the end of this year.
Yoon informed the tech site that OnePlus is also working on a Nougat update for OnePlus 2. Having said that he hasn’t shared any timeline as to when it will be released.
Carl Pei at the AMA said that when it comes to update, OnePlus is in a lot of pressure. OnePlus have the most vocal and tech savvy user base, and company cannot ignore this fact. He further added that with the new software team structure, the company would be moving a lot faster than before.
OnePlus turns out to be another OEM following LG be releasing the latest Android update to its smartphones. Generally, the smartphones that run stock Android gets the upgrade first. As a matter of fact, LG’s V20 smartphone was the first handset to launch with Android Nougat.
The company is also tipped to announce its next flagship OnePlus 3T on November 15th. While the reports suggest that it will be running on Android Marshmallow, there are fair chances of the smartphone being launched with the latest Android Nougat.
The company has confirmed that OnePlus 3T will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 processor. The coming smartphone is also expected to be an incremental upgrade over the OnePlus 3, which was unveiled earlier this year. Apart from the processor upgrade the upcoming smartphone is expected to come with some changes in the optics and battery. To know what exactly OnePlus is bringing us, we will have to wait till November 15th when the company officially rolls out this much-awaited smartphone.
