Blackberry Priv Reviews: ‘Blackberry’ as we all know is one of the pioneers in the innovation of smartphones and has quite a reputation as it is one of the oldest firms to deal with electronic gadgets. It was earlier known as Research in Motion and had developed its first device back in 1996.
Since then the company has earned fame in the gadget world which every individual is aware of. But recently the company has been facing some problems with the production of new devices and is also going in losses but nevertheless, Blackberry has always stood up against every odds every time. To fight against this obstacle Blackberry has recently launched its fabulous new smartphone Blackberry Priv in November 2015 which seems to add glory to the company profile and earns a decent rating.
Many of the tech-experts had suggested earlier that Blackberry would come out with a new Operating System just like Android but nothing of that sort happened, and Blackberry too opted for the latest Android Marshmallow for its new smartphone Blackberry Priv.
BlackBerry Priv Reviews- First Android Smartphone of BlackBerry
Let us check out what latest features Priv preserves for us:
Display and Look: Blackberry has retained its look of having a keyboard at the front even in this new phone. It looks different and unique. You can switch to console and back to screen as and when required. As a result, the phone becomes uncomfortable to use when at hand. Anyways, the phone looks good, and Blackberry has also rolled out updates to several core applications on the Blackberry Priv. The keyboard apps have also been updated with new features and functionality along with the launcher and the camera.
Touch and Display: Blackberry is loaded by 5.4 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that gives it a 71.9 percent screen to body ratio. The resolution is quite good that is 1440×2560 pixels with 540 PPI pixel density. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The phone does not feature pixel-dense quad-HD panels that are seen on most of the high-end top-competing smartphones nowadays. Its AMOLED display is bright and vibrant, but it has an issue of a bit over-saturation though usually it doesn’t make much difference. The viewing angles of this smartphone are great and gives you a great experience while watching movies or playing any hard-core games. Its display is one of the Blackberry’s most impressive features.
Software and Hardware: The Blackberry Priv runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and the company is thinking of upgrading the OS from Lollipop to Marshmallow Beta Version. Just over a month ago Blackberry has started up a beta program for Priv owners who wanted early access to the Android Marshmallow update. The group of the beta testers who will register will get access to the Marshmallow OS from the day itself. Blackberry Priv is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 whose two cores are clocked at 1.8GHz Cortex A57, and the other four are clocked at 1.44GHz Cortex A53. The graphics are loaded with Adreno 418 GPU. Now, moving on to its hardware part, Huawei has given this phone a RAM size of 3GB and the internal storage is 32GB. There is also a microSD card slot due to which you can expand you storage up to 200GB. This is one of the best features of this smartphone.
Camera: Blackberry has also rolled out many updates on its camera along with its keyboard and launcher. Blackberry has tried out some additional features in its rear camera. In its rear camera, the company uses a new technology of Schneider-Kreuznach optics. The company has set the rear camera at 18 megapixels, but it has provided a better aperture and pixel size and some additional modes to give you a better camera experience.
The rear camera has an aperture size of f/2.2 and supports dual LED flash, OIS, and autofocus. The rear camera captures beautiful pictures which are bright and sharp. The front camera could disappoint you if you are thinking of taking this smartphone. The front camera has a resolution of only 2 megapixels and a resolution of 720pixels. The selfies taken by its front camera seems to look good, but the picture quality is revealed when zoomed. But the pictures taken from the rear side seem to be detailed, bright and sharp.
Battery Life: The battery life of this premium Blackberry smartphone also proves to be premium with the strength of 3410mAh. The battery is a non-removable one which provides a standby of up to 420 hours and a talk time of 24 hours under 3G network. Although there are some heating issues with the phone, it is avoidable since the battery is providing you with a lasting run for almost a whole day which is quite appreciable with such power consuming hardware and 5.4inch screen size.
Variants and Price: As of now the phone is only available in one color that is black, and the price of this Blackberry smartphone is around 50,000 INR in India, but the price may vary. Many of the online stores are providing this phone at a price of 48,000 INR. So you can check out the best of the price available and buy it straight away.
Suggestions: This phone has many useful features that you can count on. It has provided an exquisite display and screen resolution. Even the battery life is descent and this phone also comes with a fast charging facility which can charge up your phone up to 60 percent in just 30 minutes. It also has an active noise cancellation with dedicated mic.
The RAM size is 3GB, which is quite sufficient, and even the inbuilt storage of 32GB is not bad. Indeed, Blackberry is also offering an expandable memory of up to 200GB which is one of the largest to date as all the other smartphones come with a micro-SD slot of 128GB to the maximum. Other software features of this phone are good. The phone seems to disappoint a little when it comes to the camera, and even the size of this Blackberry phone is too bulky. Blackberry has a brand name, but the products that it delivers could have been better with time. At this huge amount, there are also other smartphones in the market those are way better than Priv.
