Blackberry unveiled its Android-based smartphone – the DTEK50 and the DTEK60

At an event on Monday in New Delhi, Blackberry unveiled its Android-based smartphone – the DTEK50 and the DTEK60. The smartphones are priced at Rs. 21,990, and Rs. 46,990 respectively. The DTEK50 will go on sale from this weekend, and the DTEK60 will go on sale in December beginning.

To recollect users memory, the DTEK50 was launched in July last year and began shipping in August. Whereas, the DTEK60 was launched last month. The latter also features a fingerprint sensor on the back panel.

Both the devices run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow along with Blackberry’s skin on top. The customization with Blackberry Enterprise services and the DTEK by Blackberry app is what makes the company describe these smartphone as the “World’s most secure Android smartphones”.

The DTE50 is a single SIM smartphone that features a 5.2-inch HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with pixel density of 424ppi. The smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM. It sports a 13-megapixel primary camera along with dual-tone LED flash, a 6-element lens with a f/2.0 aperture, and PDAF. On the front, it bears an 8-megapixel fixed focus front snapper with an 84-degree wide-angle lens and a f/2.2 aperture.

It offers 16GB of the onboard storage capacity that can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD card. For connectivity, it has 4G LTE, FM radio, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.2, and NFC. It comes with a 2610 non-removal battery that supports quick charge 2.0 that claims to offer 50 percent charge in 51 minutes, along with 17 hours of talk time, and up to 12.8 days of standby. The dimensions are measured at 147×72.5×7.4mm and weigh 135 grammes. Sensor options include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light, magnetometer, and light sensor.

The DTEK60 is also a single SIM smartphone that features a 5.5-inch QHD (1140×2560 pixels) display. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. It comes with a 21-megapixel back camera along with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, and a 6-element f/2.0 lens. It also has an 8-megapixels fixed focus front snapper with 84-degree wide-angle lens and a f/2.2 aperture

It offers an internal storage of 32GB that can be expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. It packs a 3000mAh non-removal battery along with Quick charge 3.0 the delivers 26 hours of talk time and 14 days of standby. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/A-GPG, and NFC. Dimensions are measured at 153.9×75.4x7mm it and weighs at 165 grams. Sensor option on both smartphones is same.
