Xiaomi Launched Redmi 2 Prime – A second version of Xiaomi Redmi 2

Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime Review: Xiaomi Company was founded by Lei Jun and was co-founded by 8 partners in 2010. In August 2010, Xiaomi launched its first Android smart phone. After one year, the company unveiled its first flagship, which was integrated with MI-UI. In the year 2011, the company released its own smart phone that was the first smart phone based on MIUI and its specifications.

Xiaomi has been growing its user base by launching extreme smart phones in India. Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime smart phone was launched in August 2015. Xaiomi had started manufacturing this phone in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This phone is set to replace Redmi Prime (a predecessor version) in India. But it is not exactly as same as any Xiaomi phone that has come before. It was introduced with a 4.70” inch touch-screen display with 720 pixels by 1280 pixels resolution at 312 PPI. Manufacturers have been splitting stock between multiple factories in multiple countries.

Design and Look

Xiaomi continues to the marketing of the Redmi 2 Prime phone with a different colored rear body. But it is available for purchase in white and gray colors. Its front side is plain black, with button labels printed in red color. LED is on the right side at the bottom, beneath Home button. Its power and volume buttons are on the right side. 3.5mm audio port of this phone is on the top. Micro-USB charging with data port is on the bottom. The rear has a beautiful matte texture on this Redmi 2 prime phone, which is not slippery and looks prone to picking up scratches. It has a bright silver Mi logo which is quite bold.

This phone looks identical to its predecessor version. It has 67.2mm x134mm x9.4mm dimensions. It has ergonomic curves on its corners. It is not the lightest phone in this price range at a 133g weight, but it would not pain your arm during long calls or game play time. It is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset processor and it has been introduced with 2GB RAM. This phone has 16GB internal storage expandable up to 32 GB using a micro SD card. It measures 134.00H x 67.20W x 9.40T and weighs 133 grams.

Software

This phone supports powerful Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. This processor is used by Motorola Company in its Moto G 3rd Generation smart phone, whose price is double than Redmi 2 Prime phone’s price. It has ADRENO 306 for taking care of graphic objectives. 4G connection is supported on 2300MHz band on both SIMs, and there are Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and FM radio. Xiaomi ships phone runs its MIUI 6 skin on the top of Android 4.4.4, which disappoints the users. MIUI is one of the most polished skins. There is a LITE mode, which replaces the default UI with a much simpler one. It has an 8-megapixel camera on the rear for 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel front camera.

Connectivity features

It is a dual-SIM smart phone that has two Micro SIMs. Its connectivity features include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM and 3G. Sensors on this phone include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope. Since India is slowly but steadily progressing towards high-speed Internet connection, Xaiomi has ensured Redmi 2 Prime phone which is 4G enabled and supports Indian LTE bands.

In my opinion, Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime is one of the strongest models in its price range, offering 4G connection, an impressive camera, and a solid performance. There are two Micro-SIM slots and a micro SD card slot beneath the rear shell. This phone feels light in hand. It is easy to use with one thumb due to its narrow plastic borders on either sides of the screen. You will find that Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime phone is suitable for all type of users.
