Apple has released support for Unicode 9.0 in the developer beta of iOS 10.2

When Apple announced a new iOS beta, people mostly expected a bunch of bug fixes, or some tweaks, at best. However, what iOS 10 offers us is pleasantly surprising. Apple has released support for Unicode 9.0 in the developer beta of iOS 10.2, which was introduced earlier this week. Apple has also redesigned many of its older emoji. The new design includes fingers crossed, shrug, face palm, drooling face, new gendered professions, new animals, drinks and food emoji such as whisky glass and bacon.

The emojipedia reports suggest that the new additional Emojis are in line with the Unicode 9.0 standard. This includes animal, objects, activities, 18 new food and drink emojis, and 22 emoji under the ‘Smileys and people’ emoji.

Some of the most interesting emojis are rolling on the floor laughing, pregnant women, sneezing face, clown face, cowboy hat face, owl, handshake, and fox face. Food emoji consist of avocado, kiwi, carrot, peanut, and cucumber. New profession includes female firefighter and a female judge.

The emojis are still in beta; as a result, it will take some time before the company rolls out this addition commercially. To be a part of the Apple Beta program, you would have to register your device ??? With iOS 10, Apple launched over 100 new emojis. Even the most standard emojis have gotten a makeover. The newly redesigned emojis by Apple for iOS 10 has more representation of professional women, a water gun, and sportswomen. Overall 16 professional emojis are supported. It represents women in different professions such has engineer and detective, and women as different sportsperson like Swimming, Running, Basketball, Weightlifting, Cycling, Skateboard.

Like in most iOS emoji update, we may take a while to know where the new emojis are housed, seeing that they are scattered throughout the keyboard.
