Xiaomi launched Redmi 4, Redmi 4A, and Redmi Prime
As expected Xiaomi launched Redmi 4, Redmi 4A, and Redmi Prime on Friday at an event in Beijing in China. With Redmi 4, the company also unveiled the Redmi 4A and the Redmi 4 Pro variant. The Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime are priced at CNY 699 (around Rs. 6,900) and CNY 899 (around Rs. 8,900) in that order, and currently these smartphones are up for pre-orders for their first sale on Monday. On the other hand, Redmi 4A is a budget phone that comes with a price tag of CNY 499 (around Rs. 4,900) and will go on sale from 11th November.
Let’s start with Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime- both the smartphone have same metal unibody designs, 2.5D curved glass display, hybrid dual-SIM slots, and a fingerprint sensor on the back panel, however, the major differences lies in specifications such as a processor, memory, storage, and display resolution. Both handsets run on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will be coming in Gold, Silver, and Grey colour variants.
The Redmi 4 sports a 5-inch (720×1280 pixels) HD display, and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SooC clocked at 1.4GHz paired with the Adreno 505 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It features a 13-megapixel primary camera along with a f/2.2 aperture, 5-lens system, dual-LED flash, and PDAF. It also bears a 5-megapixel front snapper.
The smartphone offers an internal storage capacity of 16GB that can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. Connectivity option includes 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and GPS/A-GPS. It packs a 4100mAh battery. Sensor options include ambient light, accelerometer, gyroscope, infrared, and proximity.
On the other hand Redmi 4 Prime sports a 5-inch HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, and is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB onboard storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. It has Bluetooth v4.2 but other than that all the specifications go with Redmi 4.
Most basic of the three handsets, the Redmi 4A is the hybrid dual-SIM smartphone that runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 SoC paired with Adreno 308 GPU and 2GB RAM. It has a 13-megapixell rear camera along with a 5-lens system, PDAF, and f/2.2 aperture. It also has a 5-megapixel front snapper with f/2.2 aperture. It features 16GB onboard storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and Bluetooth v4.1.
