HTC scheduled product announcement on January 12 saying that it will make the “next big announcement”. The company has started sending media invites and has also shared a teaser with a tagline “for U”.
Interestingly, the launch date, January 12, is just after the CES week which indicates that the company doesn’t want its product to be lost in s host of several other launched during that event. While the company didn’t reveal anything about the product in its invite, the rumours have it that product might be HTC X10 mid-range smartphone which is expected a launch in January. The event might also see the launch of HTC’s next flagship or its recent virtual reality push, or both.
Let’s start with HTC X10 which is the successor of the HTC One X9 is rumoured to be launched in January and might be priced around CNY 2,000 (around Rs. 19,500). It is tipped to come with a 5.5-inch HD (1080X1920 pixels) display. The device might be powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor (Cortex-A53 cores) paired with Mali-T860 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone is expected to bear a 13-megapixel primary camera along with OIS.

Some other reports suggest that HTC is working on its next flagship dubbed to be HTC 11. The HTC 11 is rumoured to come with a 5.5-inch QHD (1440×2560) display. It is tipped to run on Android 7.0 Nougat along with HTC’s Sense 8 UI on top. The smartphone is expected to pack a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The device is expected to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 CPU paired with Adreno 540 GPU for graphics and 8GB of RAM. It is said to offer 256GB of internal storage capacity and would pack a 3700mAh battery. According to the leaks, the device might come with a price tag of $691 (around Rs. 47,000).
But as all these are leaks we cannot authenticate the information and would have to wait for the January 12 launch event.
