The name of the device suggests that it is the lite version of the Honor 8 smartphone which was launched earlier. It has the screen size of 5.2 inches with the curved glass of 2.5D. There are no buttons on the front of the display. The charging port, microphone, and speakers are on the bottom of the device while headphone port and the secondary microphone are on the top. The fingerprint sensor lies on the back side of the device, and the camera and flash are placed horizontally in the upper left corner. The body of the device is entirely metallic, which makes it little slippery. The better placement of the speakers helps us to hear the ring volume while the phone is on the bed. It has not used the modern c-type port which is coming nowadays.

Honor 8 Lite specifications

Honor 8 Lite features the Full HD resolutions of 1080×1920 pixels (~ 424 pixels per inch) which make high pixel density. You will like the display if you aren’t a fan of punchy colors. The one main fact is that it has the good angle for viewing but reading under sunlight is little difficult.

The Honor 8 Lite is powered by 2.1 GHz, Octa Core, Kirin 655 processor, Mali T830 MP2 GPU as well as a co-processor called i5 which is used to handle the sensor inputs when the other cores are on standby, to save power. It has the 4 GB RAM and is more than enough to handle any application. The device comes with 64 GB of internal memory with the expandable slot of 128 GB microSD slot. The device also supports 4G and VoLTE.

The connectivity available in the phone are WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB-OTG support. But it missed out on WiFi 802.11ac and NFC which would have helped him to score more points.

Honor 8 Lite camera performance

The company claims that its camera can deliver professional results with the primary camera of 12 MP. Camera has dual-tone LED flash and phase detection autofocus the camera app is also simple to use. The front camera of the device is 8-megapixel which also delivers good results. Photos taken at night are good, but it misses out the night mode. The other options of the camera are record slow motion videos and take panoramas and time-lapse.

Honor 8 Lite software and performance

Honor 8 Lite has the operating system of Android 7.0 Nougat while most of the smartphones are still coming on the marshmallow. You can change the functions if you do not like them by changing theme, font and icon pack. It is powered by the processor manufactured by Huawei instead of snapdragon or MediaTek processors. We found handling the device quite easy. One handed mode also has been added. It has 4GB RAM which helps to run smoother, and there is over 2 GB RAM remaining while using the phone.

Honor 8 Lite has the Non-removable battery of 3000mAh which delivers for one full day with default screen setting. It delivered for 9 hours, 42 minutes in HD video loop test. The other similar phone like the Gionee A1 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 gives better results in battery life. There is also the absence of fast charging. The 5W charger which comes with it is not as fast.
