Sony PS4: When the end of the previous generation was coming, a prediction was made by the analysts that the eighth generation will be the closing stage of gaming age and is going to end the video game console. But, the Sony Interactive Entertainment has put this notion to an end by reaching a milestone in the sales of PlayStation 4. The Japanese company in its previous year sold only 14.8 Million units.
The reports on the firm’s earning released by Sony company on Thursday said that one of their gizmos has sold the consoles in impressive numbers i.e. more than 40 units. Yes! The company has proven analysts prediction wrong about the ending of video games and sold more than 40 units of the PlayStation 4.
The Sony’s home video game console set a record i.e. it has sold units in a year which its rival Wii U and Xbox has sold in its lifetime. The Wii U has sold only 12 million units in its lifetime. And secondly, the next rival, Xbox has crossed sale of 18 million units in its lifespan. Sony has always been punctual in providing the details of its sales figures while this was not true in the case of Xbox.
We can’t say that Xbox is not doing well in sales; it is simply that PS4 is just doing exceptionally better. According to Sony, the main reason for their year-over-year growth is an increase in digital sales i.e. about 50 percent increment. And also, the PS3 software and hardware sales were decreased because the previous generation of gaming console was ending. And, in the supplement, strong sales of PS4 software made it possible.
This year will be more interesting for the gamers as the company is going to introduce a new hardware. In October, the new PlayStation VR will be shipped at a price of $399. And secondly, it is anticipated that the Sony may release two consoles in 2016 if the rumors of NEO or the PS4K is true.
Speaking of the software side, Sony is going to release the “Ratchet & Clank” PS4 game in April in the connection of the animated movie which is to be released by Sony in theaters on April 29, 2016
