Facebook has added new app-group video calls
Recently Facebook revamped its Messenger app’s design in order to make it more camera-focused and incorporated many features including 3D mask and text-based artwork suggestions. Now Facebook has added new app-group video calls, and reports have it that this feature was requested for quite some time now, now the social networking company has finally decided to roll out it for iOS and Android devices and also on the Web versions.
With the new feature, Facebook Messenger users will be able to see up to six people at a time, however up to 50 people can join the conversation via camera or voice. In its new post the company said, as soon as more that 6 people join the call, just the dominant speaker is shown to all the participant. To initiate a group video chat, the user needs to go an already existing group chat, or create a new one, and tap the video icon on the top-right of the screen. After that, the group members will then get notified and can join the video chat by the single tap. The company said for an extra push, users can also directly ring just a few people or the entire group.
Interestingly, Facebook is also rolling out a feature that will allow the users to include background colours to their text-only posts. To use this feature, tap on the status bar and select the preferred colour. Reportedly the feature doesn’t work on images, links, or video posts.
This step marks a great deviation from Facebook’s trademark style which was plain and simple aesthetics. The new feature is already rolling out to Android devices, although it will take a while to reach iOS devices. Further, the reports say that in coming months the feature will be available for Web versions as well.
Seeing that Christmas is drawing near, it might not be a bad idea to have a group video chat with your family and friends. Plus you can now also add colours to your Facebook posts as well.
