Apple has issued a statement on its Chinese website

Last month it was reported that a few iPhone users are experiencing battery issues. Users claimed that their devices are being abruptly shut down even when with sufficient battery life. Following multiple complaint reports, the company offered a replacement process for those users whose iPhones were experiencing the before said issue. Now Apple has issued a statement on its Chinese website explain the issue.

While there have been some reports from non-iPhone 6s variants claiming the similar issue, the company is staying put on the opinion that the issue is only limited to a few iPhone 6s users with certain serial numbers. The statements also add that the issue was hardware related and it has nothing to do with iOS 10.1.1 bug that was reported earlier, which is another story that gained popularity after several users reported this bug.

Apple in its statement said that the company has discovered that some iPhone devices manufactured in September and October 2015 include a battery component that was rendered to controlled ambient light longer than required before being gathered into battery packs. Consequently, the exposed batteries degrade faster than a standard regular and cause abrupt shutdowns to crop up. Apple reassured that it is in fact not a safety issue.

Further, the statement says if the iPhone shuts off erratically, it is essentially part of Apple’s safety feature and not a bug. However, it is not likely that there will be any consolation to anyone who is experiencing this issue.

Apple says the company also designed automatic shut down on their iPhone under certain conditions for example in an extremely cold temperature. While for the users this shutdown might seem unexpected, it is designed to protect the handset’s electronics from low voltage.

However, Business Insider that Apple Store has been receiving a lot more complaints than what the company is suggesting. Apparently, a staff claimed that the issue is very frequent and more people than just iPhone 6s users have been experiencing.
